One of my very favorite things about our house is that there are enough bedrooms to designate one to be the guest room. I love the idea of guests having their own space to relax and feel at home when they come to stay with us. Today I thought I would share with you some of the progress I have made in this room. It is not 100% finished, but I am loving how it has come together so far 🙂 To see how I styled this modern farmhouse bedroom, keep scrolling!

I wanted the room to be bright and airy, yet still feel cozy and welcoming. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted white ship-lapped walls and a gorgeous farmhouse metal bed frame. Thanks to the husband’s DIY skills, and the ease of online shopping with Overstock.com, my dreams came true! Isn’t it just dreamy? I love the rustic yet classic feel to this room.
For the bedding, I went with a linen comforter set from Target (we have the matching duvet cover set in our master bedroom!). I then paired it with a lightweight grey blanket for some extra warmth on our chilly Montana nights. I topped it off with a cozy knit throw for a ‘lived in’ look. This burnt orange colored throw (similar) was the perfect pop of color to bring a little life to this room.
To give the room some added texture I picked up this beautiful eco-friendly rug from World Market. I was surprised to read that it is actually made from recycled plastic bottles and hand woven in India! It is actually really soft to walk on and the best part is, it doesn’t shed! And don’t get me started on those fringed edges (obsessed!) 🙂 I made the DIY yarn wall hanging for this room to give the walls some more texture and pull in more of the burn orange color. I love how such a simple piece can bring so much interest to a space.
I had such a fun time picking out the throw pillows for this room. I mean, what girl doesn’t love throw pillows? My poor husband doesn’t understand the point of them and views them as obstacles he has to fight in order to get into bed every night (insert eye rolling emoji here). Sorry Mister, a bed just isn’t complete without them! Anyway, back to the throw pillows in this room. The cute fox throw pillow is from Target, as well as the grey fringe pillow. They were both clearance finds, but I am also loving this one, this one, and this one. The striped lumbar pillow is an indoor/outdoor pillow from World Market and I picked up the ‘Thankful’ pillow last fall at Kohl’s. I didn’t intend to keep this pillow in here but I love how the orange stitching ties in with the fox and the throw blanket. Plus, who says you only have to be thankful in November? 😉
The nightstands are definitely a favorite of mine! They are also from Target (I’m sensing a trend here…) and add the perfect amount of warmth to the room. I styled them mainly with items I already had as well as a few thrift store/clearance isle finds. I love that they have two drawers so guests have a place to store their small belongings during their stay. Also, how cute is that ‘Be Happy’ sign I picked up from Kohl’s? I thought it was the perfect little bedside reminder 🙂
Currently at the foot of the bed is this old jewelry storage vanity that used to be my grandmother’s. Although I love this piece, ideally I would like to get a dresser for this room so that guests have a place to store their clothes. For now, the vanity will have to do until I can find the right dresser for the space.
I kept the decor on top of the vanity pretty simple since it is a smaller piece. I picked up this sweet sign from Sincerely Us Shop on Etsy to serve as a reminder to our guests that they are welcome to stay as long as they’d like 🙂 The sign is a quality piece and framed in beautiful golden oak. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! And guess what? Sincerely Us Shop is sweet enough to be offering 20% off your entire purchase! Just enter the code Joyfully20 at checkout! I know you will love their signs as much as I do 🙂
That’s our modern farmhouse bedroom! I will do an update post once I have finalized this space. Checkout how I blended rustic and modern finishes in our master bedroom this post!
